Blacktoft Sands

Established in 1973, Blacktoft Sands Nature Reserve is England's largest tidal reedbed and home to many species of birds and wildlife.

On and around the specially constructed lagoons next to the rivers Ouse and Trent, Marsh Harriers, Avocets, Bearded Tits to name but a few can be seen. Large viewing hides with
wheelchair access provide close views of the birds.

Opening times

9 am to dusk, winter. 9 am to 9 pm (if before dusk) summer (April to September).

Location. Eight miles east of Goole on the A161 to Swinefleet and unclassified road to Ousefleet, signposted from Goole.

Public transport. there is a bus stop opposite the car park entrance. Buses from Goole leave at two to three hour intervals, Monday to Saturday.
